I need some help regarding the Recall for Minis last year for the power steering pump. Mine just went out and I called 2 BMW dealerships and Mini directly because they say my car is not affected by the recall. I got the notice last year for the recall but never took it in. It just failed yesterday after I fixed my overheating problem and added some aftermarket stuff (ie; metal coolant expansion tank, cold air intake, etc). My car is an 03 S model with 70k miles on the car and 80k miles on the engine (swapped engine but same, original engine blew up at the track). What I want to know is why my car is not affected by the recall as BMW says. It has the stock power steering pump, never touched ever. Thanks.

Are you the original owner of the car? If not, how do you know that the original defective PS pump hasn't already been replaced under recall?

 

Thank you. I'm the original owner. Well my dad is. He gave me the car about 6 years ago. But it's still under his name and I have every receipt for every part replaced. So far, the engine, supercharger, suspension, and clutch have been the only things replaced.
