Valves for one are different...a cooper head on an S will burn the valves...
Some have said sodium filled, some other alloy types...but not interchangeable.
Know the actual cams are different materials
Cooper is sindered metal, and S is billit.
A fast search will get you lots of info...
Oh yeah...no turbo on a gen one...so I know you never even fired up Google.

The no turbo thing is important info, because if you are thinking about a turbocharged mini, then you are thinking about a later year, and this section of the board is the wrong place to ask.

So, to make sure, are you referring to the Supercharged R53 Mini Cooper S, or are you referring to a Turbocharged R56 or later?

Just want to make sure you're on the right forum page.

I assumed 1st gen coopers was turbo. My bad.

Yes Supercharged R53 Mini Cooper S is what I meant. The reason I asked is I have a rebuilt R50 cylinder head.

If you have an R53 and are going to attempt to put an R50 head on it you will be taking it back off in a few months for burnt valves.

You can buy S valves and have them installed in the head for cheaper than you will buy another S head for, I would source some S valves (new or used) if used get them lapped and properly installed.
