2009 R 56 JCW Turbo Hose.
2009 R 56 JCW Turbo Hose.
Today while coming home from work the car developed a scream while pulling away from a stop sign, sounds like a woman screaming. Thinking that the only thing on this car that spins that fast would be the turbo I pulled the intake hose off and noticed a seal that had 3/4 of it missing presumably sucked into the turbo, not a good thing.
Is this seal supposed to be here ? Or should the stock hose fit snug onto the turbo inlet. If so does it sound as if the stock turbo had, at some time, been switched with a Cooper S turbo?
Attached photo is of the seal.

Sorry to hear about your turbo.
I have 55K on mine. I tried to fit the intake hose back on and it was too big to make the seal which made me think about the turbo being changed already. With the standard cooper S one.

not even 69k on it either. It's so hot under the hood its a wonder any of the plastic/rubber parts can survive.
