R58 FJCW intake upgrade?

I've noticed that my FJCW actually has a cold air intake from factory. The intake hose goes all the way to the front grill and sucks in ambient temp air.

Is it worth it getting an open intake like the DDMworks street intake? I'm thinking it'll raise my intake air temp no?

Also do I need an extra turbo heat shield for a track day?

Would definitely recommend a heat shield, please see the articles and selection below for the turbo and oil feed line:

Also, you may wish to consider a Wagner intercooler upgrade:

And, here's a useful video on making the JCW swap:

Please let us know how we can help!

We recommend anyone who is tracking their car to pop the hood after their run and leave the car run for a few minutes to cool down and allow coolant to circulate, and heat to escape the compartment. If you're looking for the best air mod to spend money on I would point you to an intercooler, it'll do more for you than an intake or any other air mod will. Don't skimp, if you are spending the money do it right.
+ 1. Helix. Btw. Popping the hood and rolling the car are tracking 101 after coming back in from your session. I also have a cheap water spray pressure bottle that I cool the inter cooler and rad after a session. A basically stock fJCW breathes just fine from the factory. Heavy mods change that.

Intercooler

Good choices between the performance and competition models:
