Tachometer not working

Hey guys the tach on my 06 s quit working last night. I washed the car on Saturday everything worked Saturday night, Sunday, and Monday morning then Monday evening I went for a drive and the tach was stuck at 0 rpms no indicator lights for blinkers when on no high beam indicator lights nothing worked except for the lights inside the gauge that light up the numbers. The only thing I did so far was a ecu rest thinking maybe that would help since everything on the speedo was working as it should. After the reset and sitting for about an hr I got the tach back except this time is was real laggy and the needle would jump all over the place 6k rpms to 0 to 3k and all-over the place, motor was at a constant rpm so something is wrong somewhere electrical. When I got home after about an hr drive I reset the ecu again thinking maybe that would help but that made me loose the tach all over again. I have yet to check fuses or the connection on the tach itself which I plan to do when I get home from work. Just looking for some input on other things to check. Thanks guys

I would unplug the tach and plug it back in again first, I bet the connection is lose? Have you added any mods near the tach, pod gauges or anything ?

Nope nothing. I plan to real soon but not yet. Most recent mod was a radio install last weekend

Well that didn't work. Going to start checking fuses. What else can I do to find out the problem if all the fuses are good?

alright so all the fuses checked out fine but i went ahead and replaced the one for the gauges anyways and that made the gauge come back to life but the needle was still doing whatever it wanted. so i called up detroit tuned since they are local to me and said it was most likely the bcm but could possibly be the tach itself. but chad wouldnt tell me how to check the bcm to see if it was that or not, which i get. so who here knows how to test a bcm? i havnt even looked to see if its wet yet or not its been a long day here for me and aside from buying a tach and hoping it works i have no idea where else to look.
