Mine was easy to install, I did it in three hours the night it arrived. The tips are a bit crooked, but that's a problem for the drivers behind me.

I would recommend it to anyone on a budget looking for a fun exhaust.
I'm thinking about replacing my JCW exhaust with the IE exhaust one of these days. I don't know why.....but the JCW exhaust on my car isn't really much louder than the stock S's I've been in. Even with the resonator removed...it's still pretty quiet.

I agree. So far I have done.
One ball mod
JCW w/o resonator ( Better than One ball Mod, exhaust more animated )
Magnaflow
JCW with resonator ( Very much like One Ball Mod )
ALTA Sport Tone ( with life time warranty )

By far for an R53 JCW, the ALTA was the best. Nice deep throaty tone and no drone on highway....One sided = less weight.

I always thought Alta was one of the cheaper exhausts out there? Maybe not...

Another vote for the Milltek. It costs more, but is worth it. No droning is very important in a cabrio. It has nices pops and burbles and wails when you get on it.

Hence the recommendation of the Milltek resonated.
So curious but what would be better for sound nonresonated or resonated on milltek

If you want more sound go non res, if you want it quieter go with the res version.

But check out our Stratmosphere system as it sounds the same as the Milltek, but better quality and price

Had Scorpion exhaust on the car for last 5 years not going to find a better sounding exhaust for a Mini than Scorpion. Bavarian carries it little over 600..

Don’t really know if it is better to resurrect an old thread or start a new one, but I am going to start by picking up a new exhaust. @WayMotorWorks how much are the Stratmosphere going for now?

So i see alot of people on here saying miltek exhaust for the r53 some saying malian. And i feel like all of us with the r53’s love the pops and bangs but just want a deeper more aggressive exhaust note cuz lets be honest to factory exhaust is droney as hell. The thing that surprised me and maybe it’s because their expensive or hard to come by is i havent seen one person talk about the Remus catback for the r53. I had one on my mini and its easily the best sounding exhaust for the car. It makes the miltek or invidia sound exhaust sound stock.

I’m going to have a Milltek cerakoted header up for grabs in a couple of weeks. Replacing with RMW headers to match the ported head.

I don’t know what you consider drone because I have two r53s with stock exhaust and neither has any drone. As a matter of fact you can’t hear either of them at all unless you roll down the windows. I wonder if you have a good motor mount? The one with stock induction and pulley has practically no engine sounds whatsoever. The one with Alta intake only and 15% sounds like an electric RC car, the JCW non resonated with a 16% is a MASSIVE upgrade in engine note and sound, with very decent pops n bangs. Amd a bit of drone at 3k freeway… no worse than some tires are though. But yes, for JCW I do recommend non resonated/ ie cutting the resonator out.
