Love the sunroof. Get the sunroof. I can't say enough about the sunroof.

Like many of the previous posts, this is my first car with a sunroof. I always thought that I just wouldn't use it. Weather permitting, I almost always have the roof open.

The sunroof does add weight though, so that could be a consideration if you ever want to autocross. However for me, the sunroof just added to the total "fun-factor"; and if my SoloII time (if I ever get around to it) is a bit slower than if I didn't have the roof... so be it.

I debated the same thing when I ordered my car in June. I opted NOT to get the sunroof for a few reasons. It is a sun roof and not a moon roof, so the sun is always beating down IN the car which adds to the internal ambient temperature while driving and parked since most of the MINI interior is dark. It has been known to have some issues with creaking and also leaking (which has been fixed). I also wanted the white roof and I felt it took away from that overall look. I have had many cars with sunroofs and even one with 2 (rover) and I just felt the mini was better without it.
I also appreciate the fact that when it is hot and humid like it has been here in NY this past week I can close the windows, turn on the auto a/c and not get sunburn and/or have the auto a/c fighting the sun beating down on the interior!. Just my 2 cents hope it helps a bit. (oh yeah and the thing costs $850 bucks which I used to buy driving lights and sirius sattellite radio)

A lot of people swear by the sunroof and while I think the concept is nice I was not sold into it.

To me your year round climate is a deciding factor in whether the sunroof will be justified or not. I have owned 2 previous cars with power glass sunroofs and after the "newness" wore out I don't recall ever opening them again.

If you libe in a place like San Jose, California, yeah the sunroof is a must but in the hot sunbelt states it is a pretty questionnable choice given the lack of a real solid interior sunshade.

I really enjoy the sunroof. Even on the hottest and brightest days there is not much of a heat build up or too much sunlight when it is closed. I find the light and air, when open, is very nice. It is noisy at 70+MPH and with the side windows open it will suck your underwear off !!!!! No sunburns yet, just lots of grins and smiles.

Personally, this would be the one thing going against the sunroof. I love the sunroof, but I also wish I had a solid white roof. They've developed white covers for the sunroof but the look just doesn't compare to a solid color roof. Nevertheless, I don't know if its enough to make me decide against the sunroof on my next MINI.

I wasn't sure about the sunroof, since I had never had one before, but I knew I wanted the premium package. Now that I have the sunroof, I love it! I love the light coming through even when it's closed. And I absolutely HATE the loss of power in my MC when the AC is on, so I rarely use it. Open the windows, crank the sunroof, and you've got so much fresh air it can take your breath away!

I like the sunroof. In the summer I put a removeable UJ flag on the sunroof to block the sun and in the fall I take it off. Unless you are into auto crossing the extra weight will never be noticed, and even then....

I think the sunroof is great. I have a removeable American flag that blocks out the heat as well as if it had a soild roof. I keep it on during the hottest part of the summer. As for looks, I think even a white roof looks better with the sunroof than without. It's one of the first things people ask me about when they look at the car.

I didn't get the sunroof for several reasons:

1) I knew I wouldn't use it much
2) I have pretty fair skin and don't like the sun beating down on me all the time; if there had been an opaque cover for it, I might've considered getting it
3) I like the clean look of the car with a solid white roof slightly better than I like it with a sunroof
4) I'm pretty sensitive to noise, so if it made any at all, I'd definitely never use it!

If you think you'll use the sunroof, by all means get it! If you think you won't, don't.
