So I've got a new to me r53. Previous owner informed me the stock speedo got shorted when he had a new head unit installed and it got replaced (I have the original speedo as well). So the new one that's installed now has 49k on the odo.

I was curious and did the Mini diagostic steps (hold the reset on the speedo and turn the key on) and went to 1.1 on the list which according to the Mini Mania instructions is the "actual" kilometer count. It says 48k Km. Which is seemingly way low. Can anyone help me figure out a way to see the true mileage or help me interpret what I'm seeing?

 

48k = 29 miles

 

48,000 kms which would be 29k miles. But that seems way low. I'm just looking if that is the true mileage on the engine or linked with the new speedometer.

 

I heard if you go to the dealership they'll know exactly how much miles you have.

 

Closest dealer to me is like 2 hours. Trying to avoid that

You will have to have it flashed by a MINI dealership to get the right mileage to show, they can see it in the ECU , old speedo, and one other location. Let me know if you need anything else.
