Does anyone know if the Pistons and connecting rods on an R53 with 120k are worth anything?

 

Probably not unless you're making sculptures. Anybody who is going so far as to rebuild a motor is in deep for labor and would be ill-advised to use knackered internals.

 

The crankshaft was no longer available about a year ago. I haven't checked recently. If that is still the case, you could probably get $300-$400 for a crank that was within spec.

 

Could always post it up and see what you could get, but it's not something I would personally buy used.

 

Thanks everyone for your responses and insights! Some heavy hitters weighing in here. I have an interested party, I was just curious as to their potential worth for when they make an offer! No idea what they plan to do with them...

 

As for pricing, Way Motor Works sells some used parts and posts pricing on his website. I would assume he would get a premium over a random party based on his experience with MINI engines...
