R50/53 R53 exhaust tip options?
R53 exhaust tip options?
I hate the beer can tips so I'm looking for some new, less restrictive ones to fill out the exhaust cutout a bit more. I do not want a full exhaust, only the tips. I really like the look of the JCW tips, but those won't fit on an S. Any suggestions? Also, what is the maximum diameter of the tips for the S? I measured the cutout and it looks to have about 8" of space, so I guess you wouldn't want to go above 3.5" each?
Yeah I found those. I prefer the tapered look, like the JCW tips. The sport tips were an OEM option, correct?
I dislike the beer can look too and got these on Amazon Last year.
.. for my 06 MCS ...

Eh, I'm not a fan of that look. I found ECS brand tips that look pretty nice. ECS, can you verify that your swivel tips fit on the R53?

The stock pipe on the MCS is about 2.25" , the inlet is 2.5" on the universal ECS swivel tips. So you will need to use a thicker .25 " sleeve or tapper weld some metal to it to slide on tight.

For anyone thinking of making the JCW tips fit, it's not simply a matter of sleeving them. I think it can be done; in fact that's one of my projects, but it is going to require some fabrication skills. The JCW tips are intended to fit on a straight pipe, but the stock R53 pipes have a curve in them that goes almost to the end, so the beercan tips have a complex insert to mate to that. Probably won't be worth the effort, but I'm weird that way.
