Hello I have my r53 2003. With 90kmiles on it. The car has an Alta 15%pulley and a A&E (CAI) and seems very noticeably that it has lost power or torque in the car... my brother has the same mini as me with only suspension mods done to his car and u can clearly see the torque is way more on sense with the pedal and is just "faster" then mine which dosent make since if my car has a pulley on the car.. i don't no if it makes it any faster but it's noticeably slower then his Mini Cooper . Wondering if it needs a tune ? And what a tune is and what they usually go for price wise for these cars..

Why would you put a tune on a car that is exhibiting power loss symptoms? Don't you think resolving those issues should be job number 1 before you start tuning and messing with timing and spark etc?

Use the handy search feature - there has got to be 100 + posts on tuning and tuners

Check all your belts, hoses, IC connections etc to see if you have a leak which is causing your current problems first..

Fix the power loss first...
Many thousands of cars have run a pulley for years, no issues....a tune is just icing on the cake to get an extra couple HP from the same mods...
If your car suddenly seems slower than a Cooper, check the bpv...it might be stuck in bypass....

That's sage advice. First fix what's wrong, and then consider performance parts. Performance parts are almost never a solution for a broken car.

Check the Bypass Valve....pretty common problem with the R53's. With the motor off......you should be able to reach down and move the little lever arm to open the bypass valve....when you let go of the lever the valve should snap shut with some force. If it's not snapping shut, the spring is broken and the valve needs to be replaced.
