Bye stripes :(

So I was washing today my car and after a decade the factory hood stripes were looking pretty ratty (cracked and not so white). So I pulled them off. My car just doesn't look the same with just BRG tan lines.
I have in the past wished I hadn't wasted money on the stripes in the first place (I think they were a $100 option) but now that they're gone I don't know if I like the naked bonnet. Do I waste money on new stripes? Are stripes a must have or just silly?

Any fun new stripe suggestion? I had the idea of sticker bomb stripes but that seems way too immature.

My first MCS was stripe-less; my current MCS has stripes. I always thought about adding stripes to the first one but have been considering removing stripes on this one. Sometimes it is all about "different."

Stripes are easy to replace if you have the patience. Lots of attention to preparation and detail but it isn't hard to do. I've replace mine twice, no worries. The current set is laminated which protects them from suicidal bugs and other trash. Not a mark on them after 20 or 30K miles.
Contact these guys - http://www.mightystripes.com/ - and see what they can do for you and ask about lamination.
I don't have a reference on bonnet strip application but here's a step by step on boot stripes. The concept is the same. Post #1 has the pictures. Good luck.

+1 We used their stripes on our yellow R53. Great quality product.

I want to say that MINI mania has stripes that are magnetic. I bough my first R53 without stripes and then added them. My second one originally had stripes, but one of the previous owners took them off. I think I'll add them back, thought I've been thinking of painting my roof black and putting black stripes on the hood with black wheels and mirror caps. I think it would look slick with the dark grey metallic paint color.

Do your own stripes! It's fun and easy. I re-did my ones on the hood with black reflective pinstriping, and also added some on the trunk! Looks great and makes me feel custom.

Best Answer: The general rule of thumb is that for every inch of racing stripe, you get 1 HP, then you multiply that total number by the amount of inches wide the stripe is for your total horsepower increase.

For example, if your racing stripe was 102 inches long, and 4 inches wide, you would instantly get an additional 408 Horsepower! This is scientifically proven if I am not mistaken.

BUt if you really want to go all out, look into vinyl graphics for the sides of your car, I hear that if you get enough of those put on, you can easily make more horsepower than the Bugatti Veyron!!

Its not too expensive and will give you an extra 25KW. Its just what you do with minis.

I wanted to add some extra horsepower before Monterey car week so I threw these graphics on the night before. Not sure how much HP they added, but it definitely increased the smiles per gallon.
