DSC Defeat

Seems that my DSC is not working. The car will spin tires freely, regardless of whether the DSC is on/off. I am curious if the previous owner permanently disabled this.

I am aware of two methods:
1) chip that overrides setting at startup -- pretty sure the car doent have this
2) changing ECU settings -- how can I determine if this has been done?

Is there anything I am missing? Not interested in taking to a dealer.

Have you watched to confirm the DSC light turns on during the "bulb check" during startup.

I bought a BMW once that had a bad DSC module. The PO "fixed it" by blacking out the three warning lights that were illuminated in the instrument cluster ...
