I dont have an install for you but its super easy. Its basicly remove the shock, bolt the plates on, put the shock back. Also a good time if you want to put on lowering springs, which is what I did when I did my IE plates.

You will need a spring compressor in order to take the tension off of the springs so that you can get the stock strut mounts off. Be careful...those springs can shoot off and hurt you if you are not careful.

Other than that...it's pretty simple.....just replace the stock mounts with the IE mounts

Ive done 2 cars now and honestly Im more afraid of using those compressors than I am of not using them.

For all 8 springs I used my crappy impact wrench on the nut while having my heels against the tophats and having the strutt shoot away from me.

My 1990 Miata stutts were pushed much farther than my 2002 R53 strutts were. The MINI stutts barely even moved a foot, while the Miata ones moved 3 or 4 feet.

If you are staying with the stock springs you may need a compressor to put the IE plates on, if you go to lowering springs you can easily muscle them on. Since lowering springs are shorter.

I use a pair of ratchet straps rather than spring compressors. They don't mar the springs and you just need to cinch them down enough to take the load off the tophats.

I have a similar question as I am refurbing most of the suspension on Griffer, my 2005 Cooper S. I have already replaced the rear shocks with Bilsteins and added Alta Sway bar links and a 19mm Alta sway bar. I am also replacing the front struts with Bilstein, adding new Alta sway bar ends, new inner and outer ***** joints, new sway bar bushings and new upper and lower engine mount. In addition to the IE plates I also am adding an M7 strut bar to reinforce the strut towers (add a new cabin filter, new plugs, an oil change, a radiator flush, a new water pump(that's a whole other story), an oil change on the SC, clean and re-oil the air filter) and he should be happy and ready to roll.
I am not confused about how to replace the struts and have no worries about the spring compressors (what could be easier? although I do like the ratchet strap trick) I got the plates and started to install but they came with zero, nada, zilch in the way of install instructions, just bubble wrap and cardboard. I assume they are a right and a left but they both fit in both sides of the car. There is a small mark in the rear corner of the plates that I assume tells me(if I were better informed)which goes where. My question is, does the mark go to the inside or the outside. My phone is broke or I would post a pic. Thanks in advance for your kind consideration.

I'm not sure on which mount goes on which side. If it was me, I would call the place I bought them from and just ask them

We have a Front Shock and Spring Replacement here that may help a little bit with your installation.

Thank you, I appreciate the input and can't help but feeling a little like I am asking "What is the color of George Washington's white horse?" or "When was the war of 1812?"
I corresponded with Jeff at IE and his reply was "based on the shape of the plate, they really only fit one way"
This is certainly not a problem in any sense of the word and not something I can't figure out. I either do it right the first time or I redo it, there is a 50-50 chance, no? I was just hoping to get it right, for sure, and save myself an hour.
As for you guys at Pelican, kudos! I definitely use your walk-throughs for many of the operations I have and will perform, including this I am and will be a customer as long as I am motoring! The challenge I have is, much like the OE plates from Lemforder, et al, the IE's will "fit"(the studs on either plate go through the sheet metal) on either side, and seat, without resistance, I just know that one of them is wrong. They don't look the same from the top, but I do not know which is correct. Oh well, what is one more hour of love on the Mini?
Thanks again and best success!

Just an update if anyone is paying attention. I did "talk" to Jeff at IE again and he told me this, "The 8mm bolts - the nuts should not be tightened beyond 18 ft/lb". So if/when you are putting in yer own...
Happy Motoring!
