Another MINI bites the dust!!!

Someone ran into my Cooper this evening (...no one was hurt) and I think it's probably toast. Both front air bags deployed, but as impact was in the passenger side front corner, probably not at full force. MINIs response was very impressive. Reparable or totaled?...not sure, but its at Moritz MINI for now. Other drivers fault, but very sad none the less.

jds, I'm very sorry to hear about your Mini. Glad no one was hurt. Sounds like Mini did it's job protecting you. Fingers crossed that everything goes well from here on out with insurance/replacement. Good luck.

jds,
I'm sorry to hear that someone hit your MINI. That no one was hurt, well you were in a MINI. MINIs are good in crashes. Hope that everything goes well with your insurance. Might be a good time to get on MINIUSA and build that new MCS 05. Hope everything works out for you.

doh - glad you're OK (though not surprised) - The MINI gave its life for yours

Hope to see you get another if it's totalled!

Thanks to you, too, UJ. I may take you up on that offer.

bummer jds. glad the mini did it's job and saved your hide.

not to sound morbid, but if you get a chance to post some pics of the car...

i'd like to be able to show some pics to a couple of detractors who question the crash integrity of a MINI.

i hope you enjoy your next one just as much.(prior to the crash)

Aww jds, I'm so sorry to hear that. Hmmm, do I hear an excuse to upgrade to a 2005 MCS now??

But in all seriousness, I'm glad you're alright.

Awwww, sweetie! I was offline yesterday (travelled down to San Diego for chihuahua-sitting training with my folks) and just saw this thread! I'm SO sorry! Please keep us posted on what happens with your MINI. And I agree: time to get on MINIUSA and build a new one!

Cheers!

Mine was hit too, rember to haggle for the price!...
to answer you question, it is PROBABLY totalled.. replaceing airbags adn the pyrotechincs and sensor that are involved usually void the car for repair in almost EVERY sense.. i've even seen cars where teh airbags went off by accident in a slight tap, yet, they had to toall the car becasue it woudl have cost so much to put them back.. At least now yuo can get a newer mini, mayeb even the converatable. BTW 2 importatn thign when dealgin with accidents and insurance.. if they DO repair it, then ask for diminished value and see what your state lawas say abtou it.. secondly, if ANYBODY went to the hopsital, then that kind agood casue they'll give you more money then needed even tho your insurance is goign to pay for it. plus may popel don't knwo this , but if you look carefully at YOUR insurance, then you might want to claim a special claim for you medical ONLY.. this type of claim is PENALTY free, so eccensially you can double dip without having to worry abtou your insurance carrier raising rates or payign yoru deductable. nto all insurance policy have it but most do, it depends on your coverage... but i'd wouldn't be surprise if you entitle to the extra money regardless.. and you might as well take, you paid for it.

My driver's side overhead and seat bag went off last year because of a slight tap on the driver's door. $2,800 if I remember correctly to fix the slight dent in the door, headliner, new bags and misc. sensors, plus new seat (not leather). Front impact bags did not go off and Bloo was off the road for about a week and a half.

Yes, the glass drops in the doors automatically, the hazards go on and the car goes through a 5 min or so reboot to make sure its electrically OK to start up.
