My 08 MCS has 95,000 miles on it and it is going trough a gallon of water a day. I fill it evrey morning before leaving and abou 8 hours later it would it would be empty. Im am now using water becuase coolant is too expensive becuase there is so much dissapering. Ive checked the coolant resevuare tank and it looks brand new. Any suggestions? Thanks Badge from SC
UPDATE: I took it to the mechanic and he said that it was the water pump. Thanks to evreybody who helped.

When you were running anti-freeze instead of water....could you smell antifreeze coming from the exhaust?

Sounds like a head gasket.....but at a gallon a day, the leak would be so bad I'm surprised the motor even ran. Is there steam constantly coming from the exhaust?? Is there a huge puddle under the car after it's been sitting? It's either leaking out, or the motor is burning it up.

a gollon a day was an exaduration. I didnt smell any antifreeze, like i said ive been using water for a while now i never smelled anything from it when there was coolant l. No stream from the exuast and no puddle after its been sitting. I think its getting burned up but im not a mechanic.

If you're not seeing a puddle under your car, the best case scenario is that it's your head gasket. I highly recommend that you address this issue now. This could get very expensive very quickly.

Check your oil level (and color of the oil) to make sure the coolant isn't going into the sump.

It allows it to escape and you can see it possibly mixing with your oil. You can see it escaping in the exhaust as well and will burn off from there. White smoke is a sign of this.

A bad head gasket can let water get into the cylinders, and then it gets burned/vaporized and end up going out of your tail pipe.

Like others have said....head gasket. Get it fixed.
