Just changed the oil on my '04 R53 m/c/s, and tried to perform the oil service reset to no avail. The last time I changed the oil 7500 miles ago, it worked like a charm - resetting to 15,500, but this time, no matter which of the methods I try, it won't happen...

Thoughts?

 

I guess I'm the only one who's ever had this happen.

Maybe an ECU reset is the answer? I'm curious on the ECU reset -- Does disconnecting the battery result in the exact same circumstance as would the odometer menu + key executed ECU reset?

Disconnecting the battery doesn't have the same effect. I disconnect mine all the time, when you do it through the odometer menu, the ecu has to re-learn the idle and stuff.

 

Keep fiddling with it. Sometimes I have to monkey about with the protocol to make it work.
