So I'm getting an exhaust on my mini r53. There's a shop in my town that builds custom exhaust for your car. I don't no a lot about cars/exhaust and my brother told me I should figure out what other people have on there minis so I no what I'm talking about when I go and get it I just need help on understanding what I should say/and what's good for my car.. I don't wanna look stupid when I go there please help.

 

I have the JCW exhaust on my car and I took the resonator off. I like the sound, however, I plan on putting a louder exhaust on later down the road.
What do you want, louder, more performance, etc.... You can do a one ball delete for very little money. That's where the take one of the mufflers out and reroute the pipe to the other. You can delete the resonator for very little money also.
What you will want to tell the muffler shop is how loud you want it to be. You also do not want it to drone. There are numerous threads about this so you may want to do some reading before you go in to the shop. You will want to know what size pipe you want and what and how many mufflers you want.

 

What do you mean how many mufflers I want. And I no I want a 3" pipe. But I'm not sure what that means I'm almost zero knowledge on cars I am new to learning about them. And I was looking for a exhaust that is some what loud and rumbles but nothing to loud where it would be anoyying to drive around. Please let me no more details and what thread to look in thank you

 

You really need to get into the Forums under the Main Menu and look under the R53 section. Read up on this stuff and you might change your mind about a 3 inch exhaust. Unless you are pushing a bunch of power, which the MINI does not, you may end up losing power. Look under your car, the exhaust pipe comes out goes into a catalytic converter, resonator and then heads towards the back of the car where it goes into a muffler then exits and goes to the other side of the car into another muffler and the exits out the rear bumper area. You really need to read the Forums on this, there is YEARS of experience that you can pull from.
