R50/53 MINI Owners License Plate Registry (Unofficial)
Hey Driving Hamster, I also moved from Philly to Pittsburgh. Trust me, you won't regret it, the Pittsburgh area is far superior to the Philly area in every way except ability to get a decent cheesesteak. And i get one of those everytime I return to Valley Forge to visit the parents!

We have not decided on a tag yet. I have ideas but don't want to share until we decide!!
And, to Jason: I am also in the military and I am a bit too lenient to give my SSN (it's still printed on my checks) and such out as we have to give it to EVERYONE on base. And, the last few numbers of the Syclone and Typhoon VIN tell everyone what number truck they have so they sign with the last 4 of their VIN. I even suggested that the last 5 or 6 numbers of our VIN might mean the same thing for our MINIs.
I agree that we have to be careful, but the VIN is visible right through the window!
Besides, my Accord is more likely to get stolen than this MINI. More parts can be used on more cars with the Accord.

>>Am I the only one who thinks that giving out one's license plate data is a little too much information? It makes it that much easier for thieves to find where you keep your MINI and grab it while you're not looking. >>
>>Jason
Right with you on that one. I will not know what my license plate says until I receive the randomly selected numbers and letters from the state. If I had it my way, I would not have ANY license plate on the car at all. But unfortunately, it is a tax that we must pay to be law abiding citizens.
One thing I will say is that I am not a person who enjoys paying taxes, and I certainly refuse to spend a single penny on any of the optional taxes such as lottery tickets and vanity plates.
If you **** someone off inadvertently and they are the type to seek revenge, they are damn sure to vandalize your car when they see it in a parking lot and recognize the "MINIME" vanity plate.
Same thing goes for any sort of sticker that gives away personal information such as which university you attended, your religious or political beliefs, or the type of music you listen to that is frequently associated with illegal drug use.
Best bet is to play it cool, be as low key as possible, since you are driving the most noticeable vehicle on the streets.
Then again, this is coming from a guy who will not wear clothing with words printed on it and goes to great lengths to remove labels and tags that display someone's name or logo other than my own. Rare exceptions to this rule are made for things that I am truly passionate about, and I can admit that I purchased the red mini T-shirt with the silouette of the car on the front, but only because I had to have something while I wait for my car to arrive and it was the most "MINI" looking shirt with the least logo and writing they had.

>>>>What's up with women not able to remember their license plate number???
>>
Well, actually, the main reason that I wanted to start a plate registry is not so that everyone can show off their vanity plates.. .there is already another thread on that one... I wanted to start a plate registry so that when i happened to see another MINI (it's rare for me), I could come back home and see if it was any of you guys. It's MUCH easier than "Hey, who had a red cooper on 95 south at 5:20 pm between exits yadda yadda yadda."
It's a liscense plate. It's the one DIFINITIVE thing that identifies YOUR MINI.
Heck, My tag is EEZ-6868. I mean, it's ALMOST naughty, but really it's just luck of the draw.

I know you aren't just trying to have people show off their vanity plates.....that's not what I was saying. But who is going to remember my license plate number? It is a bunch of random letters....I gaurantee that even if I put the whole thing on here noone would remember it anyway because it doesn't commit easily to memory....unless you are in your MINI and write it down or something and then go home to check. That's why I put my euro-tag down.....THAT one is easy to remember. Vanity plates are MUCH easier to remember than regular tags unless you have a pen and paper handy.
Hi all, this is my first time posting. My MINI S is due to arrive next Friday!! I've been waiting since April when I got on the waiting list and since Sep when it was ordered. I'm in Northern VA. The current tags I have are "MINNI ME", but they are on my old car (I wanted them early to hold them), but am going to change them. Just don't know to what yet!
Has anyone from the VA/MD area considered/had a MINI meet yet??
Melissa

Soon to have Electric Blue S with white roof, mirrors, wheels, all 3 packages, xenon headlights, and some other stuff I think. haha
