Mini Cooper s 2002 computer problems?
Hi I have a 2002 Mini Cooper s and I posted a forum about this before, we brought the car to my mechanic and he is also unable to figure this out, the car was just rebuilt and its first start up turns out to be only firing on cylinders 2 and 3. We replaced the coil and it didn't do anything. He did some poking around and told us that the computer isn't sending the signal. Would anyone know why? Maybe something is shorting? What would cause this, if we could get any help as soon as possible as we are going to need to bring it to a bmw shop and don't really have the money, we have to get it out of the parking lot of our mechanics place. So the sooner the better thank you!
Check the wiring, seen this before and since 2/3 are on the same wire it makes sense that there would be an issue in the wiring.
In the last 11yrs I've replaced one faulty ECU so that is not likely the issue.

I Would try that but my mechanic said that the signal was going in and not coming out, and he said he checked it right where the signal comes out of the computer, is there something that could be shorting c Musing the computer somwhere else? We are having it brought to the bmw shop today so we will find out for sure in a week or 2, I will get back to you. Any suggestions either way would be great, thanks!
Update
So we went ahead and had the computer replaced and reprogrammed and it worked. I don't really understand why the computer would happen to go. Something must have shorted out, but the cars running awesome now and there's nothing to complain about, thanks everyone for your help!
