748XXXXProduction Number - August?

just received my production number from mini of manhattan yesterday. when i called ask mini to see if there was any info on it i was told it was still unscheduled. i was also told that this was the first 748 number she had seen. does anyone have any idea when a 748 slot might go into build?

My production number is 747xxx with week 34 build, so I would bet you are probably going to be a September build like week 35 or 36. Just a guess! Welcome to the world of the waiting!

It has been pretty much determined that production number and build date are only marginally related. I order my car on June 22, and have a 74741XX production number. This is because that number was assigned to my dealer, and he simply altered whatever was speced for that car with what I ordered. It used to be a Chili Red MCS - now its a Purple haze MCS. Its build date was already in the queue before anyone ordered it. It simply would have been built as a car for selling off the lot.

I theorize that the lowest Production numbers were assigned to the West Coast, since shipping takes longer. You have a number from New York that is high like mine. I believe the expectation is that the first two weeks of cars go to the West, so that all the 05's will hit the street and the dealers, at roughly the same time. Cars ordered now are getting week 33 or longer build dates, but I have no definite build date yet and I ordered about a month ago. Also some people with build dates that are three weeks out have been told that their cars are miraculously finished now and awaiting shipment. I was told by ASK MINI human beings that it usually takes a month from order acceptance before information about the build is accurate, and by then the car may be completed!

NewYorkCityMINI, you can join us in the August thread. God knows, I was hoping to be a July and participated in their chats.
