Possible 2005 MCS Used Car Purchase....
Hi Folks!,,, Been a while since i have been in this Forum ..i use to own 2004 MCS ...Indie Blue ...Great car ..but only owned it for a short time really no issues but only had it for a few years and it only had 21,000 miles when i sold it
...I am well aware of the many issues/problems of the early R53's and have been doing alot of research because i want to get a Mini again ...To my understanding the 2005 to 2006 are much improved to the earlier R53's and they are the best used cars to buy if you want a first gen Mini ....I came across a used 2005 with only 23,000 miles !! The big plus is the low mileage ...so im thinking some of the issues that plague the first Gen have not surfaced yet since its low mileage car ...What are your thoughts ??? Im really excited about getting back into a Mini but am still a little scared of the EXPENSE to maintain these cars ....

The 1st Gen "facelift" occurred with July 2004 production (2005 model year). With respect to the Cooper S, aside from some cosmetic exterior (eg. headlights) and interior (eg. 3-piece versus 5-piece dash), "facelift" models accelerated slightly better (due to transmission gear ratio changes) and had 7 more horsepower and torque (due to different coating on vanes of the supercharger).
A weak point on all 1st Gen models is the power steering pump. This pump was upgraded sometime in February 2005. There is an extended warranty (13 years or 150K miles) for the pump on earlier cars.

Yes ...LOL i realized that mistake and corrected in my post
...Hmmmm so i have to make sure this 2005 i am interested in was built after Feb 2005 or really doesnt matter because i will have 3 years left and 130,000 left of driving to replace the power steering pump ...
