R50/53 10,000 Mile Report
10,000 Mile Report
Well, just came back from the dealer as my '04 S received its first ever service stop, including oil and filter change.
The car has been absolutely flawless since taking delivery on October 3rd, 2003.
Here is a quick recap of its service history:
VIN: TD74269
Production date:9/05/2003
Retail Date: 9/30/2003
New Vehicle warranty expiration date/mileage: 09/30/2007-50,000
Full maintenance expiration date/mileage: 09/30/2006-36,000
Service Date: 1/28/2004
Mileage: 4,094
Service performed: Upgraded DME software to Version 36.
Service Date: 3/12/2004
Mileage: 5,466
Service performed: Installed Union Jack roof graphic. Installed stereo AUX input Jack.
Service Date: 7/6/2004
Mileage: 10,064
Service performed: Oil/filter change, Cabin Pollen filter replacement, 10,000 mile inspection per MINI servicing guidelines.
That's basically it. This has been the most troublefree new car I have ever owned, hands down. No problems were found or noted during the inspection at the dealer this morning. The car is tight as a drum, no rattles, no noises, nothing, just pure motoring enjoyment.
Also no issues with yo-yos, windshields, stumbles, nothing, nada.
Tires are wearing well and my brake pads still have a long way to go. the dealer also replaced all windshield wiper blades and went over the car with a fine tooth comb.
Two thumbs up for MINI and MINIUSA for producing such high quality and reliable car.
Also Kudos to my selling/servicing dealer, Lauderdale MINI in Ft. Lauderdale, FL for the excellent, courteous and prompt service received during my visit today.
My S has only seen one short 700 mile roadtrip in its 9 months since taking delivery but it was an absolute blast in the highway where you really come to appreciate the power delivery of the Supercharged engine. The car has been driven mostly in the city but will be seeing more roadtrips in the future.
Very happy and satisfied customer!
Will post a 25,000 mile report on my other MINI, a '02 Cooper CVT once its second scheduled service is performed at the end of this week.

My Cooper is coming up on 10,000 miles as well. It should roll over by the end of this week. I bought it in Dec of 2003 and have been to the dealer a total of two times. One was for an oil filter, and the other was a SES light triggered by a faulty thermostat.
All in all, it has been very solid, however I have noticed it is starting to lose coolant
. I guess I will have them check that during the service.
