A little arduino or rasberry pi, a Bluetooth dongle and a bit of programming and job done.
Cute idea

If I saw this on the road in the rain, it would definitely bring a smile to my face. I like it.

Eric, I will definitely know it's you next time I think I see your MINI. I love it. You seem to have a knack for the cosmetics on the MINI. Did the same guys that did your stripes do the tach?

Nope, that would be me on a Wednesday night....lol
Oh and I have a great place for graphics vice the place who put my stripes on. They are way way cheaper and they did a great job on my neighbors truck. They dont have matte black material though. I will update you with their work when I buy the kit for them to put on..... He not only puts on stripes but can do any patterns you want..... (I have an idea...lol.)

As a bit of a conversation starter you could have made it a 11,000 rpm tach with a 9500 red line

Agreed, but that is not how the kit came.

Would that not be illegal? Blocking the view?

In arizona, not even close. Technically the tint is way way too dark, but again, its Arizona.
The cops here run around with illegal tints.

Actually, Arizona law permits limo tint anywhere behind the driver. You could even paint your rear windows black. Really no different than a cargo van that does not have any windows behind the front doors. Front windows have to let in 33% VLT.
