R50/53 HELP! CVT Transmission, 2005 MCS
HELP! CVT Transmission, 2005 MCS
I've done research lately on the CVT Class Action Lawsuit, I know the final date is coming soon, but I just want to make sure my car is not covered, unless i'm reading this wrong..
I have a 2005 Mini Cooper S Coupe, Automatic.
The claim website, says its only for the Mini Cooper, Not the S.
https://eclaim.kccllc.net/caclaimforms/bwb/Landing.aspx
Am I wrong?
My transmission is jumping, going in neutral, and revs high until it slams back in, chirping my belt and tires.
Any information is needed. Please forgive me if I missed reading a thread, post or something similar.
I would call my dealer but I trust everyone on here more, and they're closed anyway.
Thanks for your help!

Cvt is r50... The non s ONLY...so the naturally asperated...the cvt could not handle the tq of a bigger motor, a supercharger or a turbo...
YOUR R53 AKA COOPER S (sumercharged) has an conventional auto..
Some r53 auto's did have a valve body issue...
Same tranny was on some vw/Audi cars...those were mostly recalled and the valve body modified.
Mini did some repairs on a case by case basis when theccars were new....
My suggestion....change the fluid....a couple times...see if it improves.

read this

There are two main failure modes: 1) harsh/hanging 1-2 and 2-3 shifts plus hard reverse. Needs a new valve body.
or
2) shifting to neutral between 3-4. Need to fix a dislocated sleeve.
Other issues are also possible, but #1 is the most common.
