'03 R53, 113,xxx miles, only mods are IE fixed camber mounts I installed two months ago. I was driving home from the store today and made a left hand turn and all of a sudden a horrible grinding sound started from the front driver's side wheel well. I pulled into a good samaritan's driveway and drove back and forth in his driveway a little bit. He seemed to think it may be a CV joint but this seems to be a little more serious. As soon as I left the grinding noise returned, accompanied by a burning smell. I was only a mile from home, and the grinding sound soon subsided and became a rythmic "click/bang" dependent on speed. When I made the left turn into my street it once again became a grinding sound and the smell returned. After about 100 feet it once again subsided and began the rythmic clicking again, until the left hand turn into my driveway. Any thoughts...? The one bright spot is that I was planning on doing my brakes tomorrow so at least I already made time for this... right?
If anyone has any idea what this may be it would be a huge help. Thanks in advance!

Welp, found out what it was... the sway bar end link top bolt sheared off! The end link was bouncing around and basically wreaking havoc in my wheel well, I'll be getting new end links and new front tires I guess. The end link was dragging along the inside of my wheel lip and the edge of my tire and took out a big chunk of rubber all the way around. Has anyone ever heard of this happening?

On the track yes...
Guessing some corrosion or maybe prior dammage/stress from a pothole/ditch may have made it predisposed to fail...heck lots happens in 11+ years on a car...
