Now, to get an exact reading of what speed you're motoring at, is when you get to the average speed reading, hold down the button to zero it out; you should see dashed lines, indicating it's blanked out; when you let go of the button, the next read-out will be your actual mph.

Hey Clover, so when does that mode go back to being average MPH? If you were to flip through the other settings on the OBC after zeroing out to get acutal MPH, when you get back to average MPH will it still be current MPH? I'm confused about this.... (obviously)

I'm confused. Is it possible to 'set' the mpg to stay on an actual reading all the time or are you just resetting the mpg every few miles? To me, it sounds like some of you are able to 'set' and leave the OCB to give an actual readout all the time.

If this is possible, can someone please inform me how to do this.

My OBC allows 4 options: temp, average mpg (unless I reset it), miles until next fill-up, and average speed.

Is there some way to add other features to the above? Maybe I am just reading the posts incorrectly.

Someone please set me straight on this topic. I want to get the most out of my car and if there are other settings, I'd like to know how to use them.

I'm with you Swing - I tried this "option" for actual speed and the way I see it, you'd have to keep resetting it to keep your actual speed showing. HOW DO YOU KEEP ACTUAL MILEAGE DISPLAYING????

my options are:

temp
current speed
range
avg. speed
avg. mpg
current mpg

maybe you're in the average speed mode instead of current speed mode? do old versions of the obc not have all the modes?

Try resetting the whole thing - hold down the little button and clear out all the options. I had to do this when mine went haywire, and was trying to tell me I was going 8 MPH all the time.

I have mine on MPH 90% of the time, because I really dislike the cartoonlike center speedo.

Unless I'm running low on gas, then I switch to range

Temp for me... I've gotten so used to the center speedo that I always look over there when driving other cars, only to find the radio or vents

I used to set it at mph when I first got my MINI. Then I gradually got used to the center mounted speedo so now it's set at outside temp.
