What is causing these vibrations??

My car is gets the shakes starting at 100km/ph and gets worse the faster i go. At around 160 its so bad that i get off the gas for fear of breaking something.

I replaced my engine seating which was shot but apart from that the car is fine. Had the tires and rims tested and balanced today and then took the boss of the garage for a spin on the highway to see if the problem was still there.... and it was.

We concluded that there must be something else going on as the vibrations were going through the whole car with the steering wheel being relatively unaffected. But even the boss was at a loss on how to test and find the source of the problem = =

The car is a late '05 cooper S. No mods except for exhaust. Original paint, never been crashed or dinged. Mostly a daily driver.

Would appreciate any help or ideas! thx!

The the shaking stop/lessen when you push the clutch in when driving? If not, betting you have aftermarket rims? To me it sounds kinda like they lack hubcentric rings....

Sorry to hear about your troubles!

Have you and your mechanic ruled out alignment, CV joint/boot, or the axle yet?

Thinking about it, there could also be a clog or debris in the driveshaft assembly too.

I'd be curious to know the root of your issue when you do track it down.
