So after 80,000+ miles my 2003 MCS has lost reverse. I can shift 1st through 6th but no reverse. Everything from the shifter to the trans. is in good order. I haven't pulled the transmission yet. I was wondering if anybody knows where I can get transmission parts or a rebuilt transmission on a budget.

 

not possible, believe me i have been there and done that, try the marketplace on here or craigslist, thats how i got my used trans 53k miles on it for 500

but first check your cables to see if they are a bit loose. believe me you dont want to drop the trans its a pain in the but, and im a pretty experienced mech.

 

see that shaft with all the "blocks" on it... it has to be pulled all the way to the right then, rotated now i cant remember if its up or down. to get into reveres. your issue is probable streched cables or something is in the way of the levers on the out side of the trans. some one on teh face book page found a acorn in those arms and was able to get into the losst gears again. all the othe gears will feel normal but reveres needs a bit more of a tug. so a stretched cable could be the problem.
