R50 replacement speakers and possible electrical issues
Hello,
Please forgive me, as I am relatively new to doing repairs myself. I've read a number of forum posts but am still not sure what I can do. I have a 2005 R50. Over time, all the speakers have blown. First the front door components, then the side panels. This is a car with 150,000 miles and is now the secondary car at home. I'd like to replace the speakers and am wondering whether I can use 3-way speakers everywhere or whether I *have* to use components. I know components will give me better sound, but if I can go cheap, I'd like to do that. If I have to use components up front, I will.
The other thing I'd like to ask is whether I might be able to narrow down an electrical issue. I've wondering if the speaker issue might not also be an electrical issue. I have an iPod connection kit that I installed in the CD changer compartment in the boot. It used to provide power via the 30-pin connector, but it no longer does. Further, my center consoles where the heating/cooling and the door locks are no longer light up when the lights turn on. I know the LEDs simply could be out, but I wonder whether anyone has experience with this and whether there's another area I should be looking at.
Thank you so much for your help.
