2005 MCS tire and rim size! help

So I have a 2005 MCS and I have stock 17" rims, and the width is 7". My tires are 215/45/17. I am looking to buy new rims and get it lowered on springs. I was wondering if I should stay with a 7 inch width rim or go to 7.5 inch. I don't really know of I could do that because it might rub or something. Hope you guys can help! Thanks.

Going from a 7" to a 7.5" wide wheel with a 215 tire should not cause any issues with rub as long as the offset of the 7.5" wheel is somewhat similar to the 7" wheel.

A 7.5 inch rim will fit, but may require adjusting camber/offset a little bit to fit. See here for more of my experience with this...
