Unusual Problem with Cooling Fan

Ive been having some difficulty with my radiator fan which I know is a problem child of this car but none of my searches brought me to a desired result. My fan will turn on sometimes but never when its over 80 degrees outside. It always works at night but mid afternoon it always seems to shut down. Do you think I should replace the fan or resistor or do you think it is something else. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks.

I would first test the fan at both low speed and high speed to determine if it's working properly with a scan tool. Your low speed should come on at 221 degree Fahrenheit and high speed clicks on at 234 degree Fahrenheit. If it doesn't work properly without turning the AC on, I'd replace the complete fan.

The low speed doesnt work as is but I was more wondering why the fan would sometimes kick on and sometimes not?

All 1st gen stock cooling fans are bound to blow that low speed resistor. Here is the 41page sticky of the fix. Read post 997 on how your fan works. Temp & A/C system pressure are the 1s calling your high-speed, reason why you assume it's intermittent.

Where can I find the fix in that whole thread? Should I just replace the whole fan system?
