Removing pinstriping tape from bonnet

Previous owner of our 2006 R50 put a crappy running stipe consisting of black vinyl, and silver pinstripe tape along the left and right edge of the vinyl strip. Basically, a black vinyl strip with silver edges of pinstripe tape.

Using a dryer, I successfully removed the vinyl stripe, but not I have four long strips of pinstripe tape to remove. These buggers are not just coming up from edge, and "peelable" like the vinyl. I can use my fingernail to to try and remove them, but we're literally talking hours here.

Anyone got tips for more quickly or efficiently removing pinstriping tape (and residue) from the hood?

I grew up hanging around an auto body shop that my friends Dad owned, used to do some little jobs and sweep up when I was a kid. I still sometimes visit the shop which my friend manages now... Trying to say I'm not expert here but,

They use a heat gun, which puts out more heat than hair dryer. Sticky residue would be removed with laqer thinner or acetone. Careful about rubbing too hard with laqer thinner, it has the potential to rub off the clear-coat layer on your paint.

There is a rubber wheel you can get that takes that right off without harming your paint.

Dear God, don't get lacquer thinner anywhere near your paint. Almost as bad as brake fluid. First, try 3M adhesive remover, available at most auto stores or Wally World. If that doesn't work fast enough for you, go to a sign shop and beg or buy a product called RAPIDTAC remover. Use it sparingly with a plastic razor blade (yes, they make plastic razor blades just for jobs like this...available at auto paint stores). It won't affect the paint but will take up vinyl or pinstriping.

Be careful with plastic blades, you can still scratch the hell out of your car with them.
