I think it is safer to drive with lights on during the day, so I turn them on myself when I start the car.

There is also a chance that sometime I will want to move my MINI in the dark without drawing attention and DRL's would prevent me from being able to do that.

That sounds suspicious to me...

I like my driving lights. I have had them programmed on my 03 since it was new. You can disable them if you want to play "spy" Just can pull the ebrake up 1 notch and that will turn them off, without actually engaging the brake, but the red brake light will be on.

There is a reason why they are called "parking lights" use them for parking!
I had the DRL programed because I did not want the Xenons on all the time. I do turn the parking lights on so the rear is lit up also.
I believe It is better to be seen sooner than later.
I would rather burn out extra halogens and know that they have done there job.
In my Subaru RS The headlights turn off with the car, so I always have them on.

I've never had DRL. When the law in IL went into effect where your headlights are supposed to be on when your wipers are on.. I've always turned on my headlights out of habit (rain or shine). I did it for years on my Saturn... I do it all the time on the MCc now. If the only negative for doing this is a burnt out bulb, who cares . I'd prefer to be seen and people get to see me coming a block away
