R50/53 Dash mounted iPod holder
Here's some pics of a prototype of an iPod holder I built. It's made of .040 aluminum bent to form with an anti-slip foam rubber bed for the iPod. It mounts to the existing holes in the down tube with 1 1/4" screws. I used to set the iPod in the cup holder but then I had no where for my coffee. This holder allows clearance for my MINI cup and for the glove box to open and close.

There's a lip at the bottom and it's tilted back pretty good too. I've only driven short distances with it though. I think I'll make another one with an angled lip on the side to keep the iPod from potentially flying out during spirited accelleration
Also, when it's plugged in the cable keeps it secure at the top. I'll still probably make improvements in later builds. This is just v 1.0.

GREAT JOB..NEED THIS FOR CELL PHONES AND XM RADIO'S TOO. ONE THAT SLIDES LEFT (OR RIGHT) WOULD BE REALLY COOL TO GIVE YOU A CLOSER REACH OR SLIDE OUT OF THE WAY ONCE YOU ARE HEARING WHAT YOU WANT. I'D BUY THAT. ISH I COULD WORK WITH ALUMINUM THAT WAY.
