The only thing I would insist on is that they discontinue these BRG beasties......they are so ugly they are like a curse upon humanity........

I don't know if anyone cares to see this post, but since the thread seems to be winding down .... while looking for traffic light viewers last night I came across an original accessories list for the 57 Chevy. So from one classic to another .... here's what people could get to add a little pride in their ride 46 years ago. And I didn't make this stuff up.

Air Conditioner
Electric fender antenna
Manual fender antenna (left & right)
Autoronic Eye headlamp control
Front and rear basket units
Seatbelts
Wiring junction block
Safetylight bracket
Power brakes
Locking gas cap
Continental wheel carrier
Electric clock
Compass
Full wheel covers
Bumper cushion
Tissue dispenser
Gasoline filter unit
License plate frame (chrome)
Bumper guards
Door edge guards
Shoulder harness
Heater & defroster
Horn with third note
Tool kit
Kool Kooshion
Back-up lamps
Courtesy lamps
Cigarette lighter
Outside rearview mirror
Inside non-glare rearview mirror
Vanity visor mirror
Lower trunk lid edge molding
Radio -- manual, push-button, or wonder bar (BAR not BRA)
Armrests
Safety light with mirror
Radiator insect screen
Power-positioned front seat
Electric shaver
Door handle shields
Parking break signal
Rear seat speakers
Wheel spinners
Hand portable spotlight
Power steering
Vacuum tank
Whitewall tires
Ventshades
Traffic light viewer
Outside visors
Inside visors
Windshield washer (push-button or foot-operated)
Electric power window lifts
Electric windshield wipers
====================================
Does this list inspire any new "wants" for the Mini? ...... It did me. Forget the cigarette lighter, give me an electrical outlet ... I hate having cigarette-lighter-adapters for cell phones and laptops. Ya change phones and have to get a bew adapter, Then I can plug in my electric shaver too.

Thanks to http://www.greatoldcars.com for the list I copied.

I don’t know what a Kool Kooshion is, but the MINI sounds like it should have one (or maybe 2).

>>I just bought this windshield mount prisim traffic viewer off ebay for $24+$3sh .... They have more. But I'll post it when it comes in and try and photo it with light reflecting on it -- to let you know if it works. I was just blowin off steam .... I've been grumbling about bending over to see the signal, but never was motivated to look for a solution. .... Maybe this will work!

Where do you stick it (?!). Is it in front of the driver at the top of the windshield? If so does it block your normal line of sight or annoy you with normal driving? Is it easy to take off once you stick it on?

Mine is as you 've suggested...
On the front winsshield.... at the top...just a bit to the left of the rear view mirror.
It does NOT block your normal line of site.... and is not really noticeable..
When u need to use it... it's there
IMO...a great product.

Peace,
D

The '57 Chevy thing looks so cool though. I just ordered LightInSight, so I guess I don't need one. MP3 on the stereo is somewhat inevitable. I already bought an Alpine CD changer to play MP3. It would be nice to have that capability in the front. I wonder how long it'll be before the new stock head units end up in Ebay.

AWD would be good too. If they can fit it in aFiat Panda or Subaru Impreza, they can fit it in a MINI.

Mine turned up today. Works well and you really don't notice it. I have it tucked up to the left of the mirror.

How about a aqua-version? I hate to leave my MINI behind
when I'm out on the water... Can't they make this car float?

As we're getting to the 'dreaming' stage now, how bout a small V6? Like 2 to 2.4 liters and a shoehorn? MINI needs to come out with a crazy-fast limited run little supercar, and get back to being a "rally bred" brand instead of just dreaming about it.

I really don't think you could fit all of the componentry under the current chassis for AWD, but wouldn't a V6 AWD 250hp (stock) MINI be cool to see ripping up the World Rally circuit???

How about truly adjustable seats?

Now when you move the height adjustment, the bottom cushion conforms to what BMW wants (Just like the 3 series), not what I want. Just terrible IMHO.

My cheapo fleet Taurus has better adjustments.

Red

Yeah, but that's really pricey on fuel until you get a Mr. Fusion installed too!

I'm sure this was mentioned somewhere else, but I would love if they offered a solid sunroof shade as an accessory or something. I do like the netted shade, but I just wish I had something for these really, really hot summer days!

Homelink is on the horizon

It's a January option. And yes the '05s do play MP3 encoded cd's not that I listen to them much as I've got XM Direct in my car that streams right into the headunit.

Well this thread started just 4 short months ago, and look at whats happened to current cars, MP3, Sun Visor, Bluetooth to name but a few, even LSD in the mix for not too far in the future.
Do you think someone somewhere is listening ?
