AC question

2003 mini s
AC stopped working after transmission was rebuilt. Blows air, but not cold. Heat of course works fine. Couldn't charge freon because it reads close to full and wouldn't let anything in. Transmission guy said the compressor was fine but has a safety mechanism that stops it when there isn't enough freon.

Suggestions? I figured I should just get the system flushed.

nothing special about MINI a/c

but sounds like your transmission guy isn't a very good mechanic

take the car to any place that does automotive a/c and they should at least be able to tell you what's wrong.....

LOL....sounds like the mechanic in questions is a BS artist!!
I would watch out in future dealings...
Rather than say I'm not sure, or LEARNING about it, he makes up an explanation...and leaves you high and dry!!
My understanding is the MINI ac system is pretty much like 99% of other cars...just much smaller capacity due to the smaller cabin volume....I would take my car to shop that has TRAINED mechanics.
