I drove the new Turbo Miata today. After reading about the Turbo MIata,I considered selling the Minster to get one.I'm a former Miata owner whose only complaint was power. What a disappointment. The tubo couldn't quite find it's "sweet spot".The suspension made the Mini feel like a boulevard cruiser. The first 4 gears were too low for everyday street use.If I were in the Miata market it would be a normally aspirated engine.

An aftermarket street legal turbo is offered for the Miata but can't remember who the vendor was. Greddy?

Flyin' Miata sells turbo kits that can make a claimed 250 hp and up. Click here to find out more. I say this as a current Miata owner that almost went the turbo route, but I decided to go for the MCS instead. BTW I'll sell ya my Miata if ya want

I have owned both a '99 and an '02 Miata with sport suspension package. Fun cars, but definitely lacking in grunt and borderline effeminate... crystal blue just aint a manly color I'm afraid, though the wife liked it. I also considered the turbo route, as the Miata 1.8L can take substantial boost in stock form. I also looked into the Kenne Bell kit, which can easily make 250 whp on a Miata (guy I autocross with owns one, runs in SM2 class, it is plain mean with a traction limited 1/4 mile of 13.0 at 113 mph).

So yes, I am going to test out the new Mazdaspeed version, and also peruse the turbo setup to see if a manual boost controller would not remedy the low numbers it currently has.

My good friend has a supercharged Miata....it is a pretty cool and neat installation......only problem is that if he doesn't use octane booster it "pings" it's head off........
