I am looking to order an MCS in the near future, and I'm leaning towards IB/W which I hear is being discontinued for '05. Does anyone have any info on when I need to make my decision by in order to still get this color combination? I would like to see what the hyper blue looks like before making my decision, but I realize that I may be too late at that point.

Any help would be appreciated.

I had heard on here that some have tried to order IB and have not been able too, but I am not sure how much of that is true. There are lots of photo’s floating around of the new blue. There is a link over at mini2’s main page, and there is another thread here in mini talk that has your same question more or less and has some photo’s. Look for it. Good luck.

Good color choice

When I asked the same question at two dealerships (Nashville and Hank Aaron-Atlanta), all I got was shrugs and "probably by the end of April". To be safe, we ordered ours this past weekend. We have a production number, and according to the Owner's Lounge on the MINI site, it's the right color.

Good luck!

Thanks for the responses. I haven't checked with my local dealers yet, but it looks like I need to do so quickly. From the pictures of hyper blue, I don't think I want to risk missing my chance at IB.

Thanks again.

I honestly think that IB is the most gorgeous colour on a modern car I have seen yet. This is my second Mini, and while its now a UJ paintjob, the IB is still underneath... the first mini was IB as well. I love how under certain light it looks like a solid colour, then once sunlight hits it the pearl comes out... its a shame they're dropping it. Photos don't do it justice.

Octane, nice photos as usual!

BTW, are you advertising for Meguiar's?

I don't think there is any set date to stop any of the existing colors yet but once it is announced then only those orders that can be completed by the due date can get that color.

So if you are on a 10 month wait list then good luck. You're likely to loose out. But if you are in an area with only a few months wait then you might get the color you want. Or you can buy in stock stuff.

Usually you'll get one or two months notice then that's it.

Hard to believe IB is going the way of Silk Green! LOL

I ordered my 2004 Indi Blue MCS just three weeks ago, and I'm so glad that I did! It's my personal opinion that I think the Hyper blue is just AWFUL as is that orange that they are adding to the convertible. They are taking away the essence of the MINI as far as I'm concerned and turning it into a foo foo car, adding these "palette" colors. Indi Blue is awesome, and although I'm sad to see it go, it's cool to think I will have one of the last ones made.

The hyper blue is almost a puplely color it looks to me. BLEH!

IB/W rocks!

I think there's a new blue coming out other than the Hyper Blue. I don't remember the name, or where I saw it. Sorry! But it's closer to the Indi Blue end of the spectrum than the Hyper Blue.

Anyway, here's my "****:"

The hyper blue I was referred to appears here:

http://www.miniusa.com/crm/load_mini.jsp

Go to the section with the info. on the new convertible;

Click on 'What If Nature Happens?'.

Like Wannamini, I think the new blue is a little cartoonish and doesn't have the appeal for me that IB has.

Time to get my order in.

Yeah, if you click on "How do you get in?" you'll see a link that says "color" in front of the bumper. The box that pops up has 3 blues in it, Hyper Blue, Cool Blue and Purple Haze.

It's kind of hard to tell, but one of those shades is supposed to replace Indi Blue. That's what I was referring to above.

I pick up my IB/B MCS next Friday; glad I got the indi before it goes away.

Funny to hear people say it's so popular. That must be in other regions, because in the L.A. area where I've been on a Mini-watch for over a year, it's one of the colors I see the least. It's all about the chili red and electric blue, it seems.

My IndiBlue is on the boat and will be delivered to BMW plant in S.C. on 4/22, I am going nuts waiting on it now. One of the things that made me finally decide on IB was the fact that they were discontinuing the color. I know I made the right decision in picking IB. At first I wanted Chili Red, but then everyone has Chili Red or Electric Blue. Actually the MA said Dark Silver was the most popular. So I am proud to have something different and unique. Plus it is a stock BMW color so it will never be hard to redo in the case of an accident or something (God Forbid!)
