R50/53 R53 Vinyl Wrap
R53 Vinyl Wrap
Have any of you Vinyl wrapped your R53? I know a guy who does it for a decent price and I am thinking of going Matte Black. Wanted to see if anyone else has done it and how it came out.
I am a firm believer in wrapping a car. I wrapped a previous car because the paint was faded and I couldn't make a decision on whether the car was worth painting.
you should know that using a vinyl wrap has its highs and lows.
Highs:
Cleaning is simple, soap and water with a quick wipe down is all that is needed. The color is flawless through and through never have to worry about color variations. I like it because the maintenance is next to none. Always looking fresh for about the first 2 years.
Lows:
Parking lots can be full of anxiety... one door ding and that section is done. It seems to hold up well with minor pitting from rocks get the 3M vinyl if you do this! Other brands just aren't as thick. Most places won't touch your door jams so prepare of 2 two colors... It's best to wrap your car in the spring/summer the wrap can shrink under sub freezing colors within its first couple weeks due to the glue not settling.
I'm all for vinyl wrapping a car. I think it allows you to have some individuality and looks great if done right. Just be sure to use a reputable shop don't let some new shop or friend do it unless he/she has years of experience.
Hope my two cents is worth something. I use to work in a wrap shop here in MA. If you have any other questions I'll do my best to answer.

I did worry about fading, last thing I want to do is get this thing done and in 1 summer here in Indiana have it all faded and trashed. I have a guy I know who uses top of the line stuff and has a great rep for his work.
vinyl wraps are preety sweet, i know alot of manufacturers are using vinyl now for protective purposes. using a clear vinyl, my buddy has that on his R, you cant even tell its on there, no yellowing yet, and it has a 10 year warranty on the yellowing.... looks real nice, i was thinking of getting a matte white wrap, but i already have pepper white.... oops
