R50/53 mods
In the course of all my reading, not too many people have compared these two. They both offer different benefits. It really depends on what mods you already have. My two cents? The injectors are gonna make a big difference if you have other mods, and then get it tuned afterward. The GP intercooler will make a difference on its own, without any other help.
The Stock Intercooler is plenty effecient for basic bolt ons. If you plan on getting the car tuned, JCW injectors for sure. Generally for the price of the GP intercooler and the Diverter, you can get the injectors and almost pay for a tune as well, far better benefit in my opinion.
I have a 2003 S, non JCW car with JCW 380's, JCW tune, GP intercooler with GP diverter and my car runs great. Speaking with Hans the service manager at Niello MINI in Sacramento, the only difference in a factory '06 JCW R53 and the GP R53 is the intercooler. The rest of the JCW kit & tune is the same on both cars. I have read that the '06 GP is rated anywhere from 215 HP to 218 HP (depends on the source). That's 5 to 8 HP gain from only the intercooler depending on the source you reference. I don't think the JCW 380's will make any difference other than decreased milage unless you have a tune and other parts, intake, exhaust, pulley, ect. to go along with it. Just my opinion from what I have learned with my car.
Another "which is better thread".....
My advise....
decide on what your ultimate goals are, and add items to get there so you do not need to replace things 2x.
Depending on what you already have, NEITHER my be appropriate!!
Just adding more fuel with the injectors may ACTUALLY reduce HP....
and just tossing on the GP inter-cooler may not do much if you do not have any other mods that make extra heat...like a SC pulley.......
Best bang for the buck mods....
1-get a pulley, I suggest a 15%-17%
2-Bigger rear swaybar,
3-maybe do a CAI for sound...
car will nor accelerate FASTER. TURN BETTER, and SOUND better in the seat!!
4-driving skills/auto-x weekend driver education event
5- tires.....and do brakes as they are due...slightly upgraded parts for street, more if you are becoming a track junkie!!
6-1000000+ then GET into more $$$$ mods...tunes, injectors, meth, cam, etc..by then the IC MIGHT be a bit of a limiting factor, but right now, it is not!!

thanks for taking your time to response i have a mcs 04 15%pulley and crankshaft pulley 0% and one ball end exhaust with the kyn filter

Imo, do the swaybar next...will make turns more fun, and improve something the mini excells at, the twisty roads and ramps....mid sized bar for a dailydrive that will be driven on slick roads, bigger for a track car or weekend car imo. Bars run about $200. Then bank the $300-400 saved for the next thing if you want....slightly better brakes or tires will make a better, more fun car when you wear oit the current ones!!
Bigger injectors are not really needed with a 15% pulley till you get a cam, then a tune and injectors is a great thing powerwise. Adding them now is just making the car too rich.
The gp ic is more about keeping performance under harsh conditions...think a 90+ degree day.(when you might have a decrease in hp, but will not help with heatsoak due to location)...a bit different on a sc vs a turbo car, where just adding the bigger ic is instant hp....on a gen1, the gain is pretty minimal, and $$ wise, about on par, behind the gain from spening 600$ on a custom exaust for a 5 hp gain (max).

A good basic rule of thumb when it comes to starting out your mod's is:
Start with a 15% pulley & better rear sway bar, then weigh out which one made you happier, pulley...work toward engine & power mods, Sway Bar....work toward suspension & wheel & tire mods.
