R50/53 So you think your MINI is fast?
I found this article quite entertaining.

"Do you know how fast you were going?"
That's a question speeders snagged by police often hear.
But when officers in the Brussels suburb of Schaerbeek stopped a car for exceeding the posted speed limit, it was the police who were in the dark.
The Belgian newspaper La Derniere Heure reports a Mini zapped by a radar gun was clocked at over 2,100 miles per hour, some three times the speed of sound.
"We called the local police to find out what altitude the plane caught speeding along Lambermont Boulevard was flying at," a member of the Brussels prosecutor's office jokingly said.
The incident occurred Nov. 5, but is becoming public just now.
Upon realizing the obvious error, police said they'd make sure the radar gun was repaired, and the rocket-like driver was issued only a warning.

This afternoon I got a 24 hour test drive on the Audi Quattro TT with the 3.2 liter V-6....The MINI ain't fast....this beast is fast....to obad it doesn't have the spirit, elan and absolute coolness of ole PKT RKT. I might be tempted.....otherwise. Oh well, I'll have fun until tomorrow afternoon.
I heard that the Paddle shift transmission on that car is the best version of clutch-less manual to date. I have always liked the TT but it was a pretend sports car.
What did you think of the suspension bits? How did it handle. Please tell me it was mushy or my wife will beat me with a stick when I bring one home.

when the TT first came out,Autoweek wrote an article which finished up with"Too bad the body writes checks that the engine can't cash".Glad they finally did something about it.Hey pocketrocketowner, are you saying that despite it's speed, the tt you're using doesn't handle as well as the MINI?................NOTHIN PARTIES LIKE A RENTAL

PKTRKT,
I drove in one for a while the other day. I really didn't think it was a whole lot faster than a Mini with a 15% pulley. I loved the paddle shifters, but my favorite was the exhaust note. Holy Cow was that a cool sound. I haven't heard a sound this cool from a V-6 ever.

Well guys on the paddle shift.......yeah....it works and you can downshift......(you can also rev the s...t outta the engiine BTW (OOOOPS) but on the upshifts you are just playing with yourself....it will shift for you. As to the exhaust tone, I don't know, I am an old git and probably deaf.....didn't find anything worthy there....I'll pay attention later today when I go out to play some more. The paddles are definetely better than the "Triptronic BTW....which is a poor excuse of a feature IMO.
This sucker is definetely quick....don't tell them guys over on the "lets be nice and drive safely thread" but it got up to 120 like in a hurry and was stable to boot. I am sure it is speed limited at 125 with a cut off, but with a disconnect, this thing could easily top 150.......
