Has this actually happened to anyone? Ive been having this recurring nightmare that my car is going to come in 6 to 8 weeks, but be COMPLETLY wrong, with pink seats and all this other scary stuff.

If the car does come in wrong, what does Mini do?

I've only heard of this happening on very rare occasions, and even then, the car will be missing one option (like the H/K, for example). You have every right to reject delivery of the car and order a new one, if you like. Be sure to A) check the window sticker, and B) check the car and that it matches the window sticker. If it's what you want, sign on the dotted line

Well, in the Owner's Lounge on the MiniUSA site...it says that my Mini is going to have a black roof and stripes, when I ordered a body color roof and no stipes. My sales lady says itll fix itself in a week, but im still scared.

I wouldn't get too worried. When I first placed my order, it showed up in the owner's lounge as a CVT automatic. I called the dealer MoP, and they changed it right then, but it didn't show up for about 1-1/2 weeks on the website. From what the dealer said, their site is updated more often than the public website. If you want to know exactly whats going on with the car, call your dealer.

Mine was the same way - I ordered an IB/W and the MINI site said it was going to be red for the first week or so. The reason for this is the dealer made a change to a car they had already spec'd for delivery so that I wouldn't have to wait so long.

You'll find that the MINI site is actually a few days behind the MINI hotline/MA information.

Like fueledbymetal said, that's normal. What you're seeing on the MINI site are the specs for the car in that spot on the production line before you placed your order. Once a given spot on the line is reserved for a special order by a specific customer, it changes from the random specs MINI had chosen for that particular car to the specs you picked out. Be advised that, like she said, it could take a week for that to happen, easily.

I don't remember what my specs were when I first ordered, but it took a few days to reflect what I told my MA: a handsome IB/W with fogs, premium and H/K.

When I ordered my dealer called me a let me know that the mc I order had somehow been messed up and I wouldn't be getting everything I wanted and that there was nothing they could do about it now. But they let me know a long time before delivery (I cancelled the order, found a new dealership and ordered the mcs )

I'm very concerned about you. How long have these nightmares been recurring? If you still want to be around when your car arrives, get help immediately. I know a good psychologist who specializes in treating owners who are having emotional problems related to their Mini's. With early detection this sort of instability can be healed without any lasting effects. Good luck!

It has been a year since picking up my MINI. Haven't shared this before but when ordering the MINI USA site showed my car as a totally different color (among other important details). I called the dealer and they changed it, along with my VIN#. They told me that the computer order for mine had been left open and another sales rep went in (at another computer) and entered an entirely new order for another customer.

When my car did get here I drove off the lot and all electrical failed. Limped back and left it for repair. They called me to pick it up 3 days later. Long story and attempting to be short here.....it wasn't my car (missing only the fog lights). Two identical cars had shown up with this one difference and a single digit in the VIN. They brought out the second car, checked all options and thought I was home free. Didn't stop here though....dealership contacted me after a week of driving my car, all the paperwork had to be redone....wrong VIN#.

Bottom line: Check everything......through the entire process.

Yupp, pink fluffy seats. Apparently, they were an option in my dream. My parents bought me my first car 4 years ago, so this will be my first car that is really mine. I guess Im just scared. But I'll keep everyone posted about how the pink seats work out!
