weird lighting problem

Tonight driving home, I noticed the two lower lights on the passenger side of the car are out. This is the assembly just above the fog light housing that has a driving light and turn signal inside. I pulled the lights out, but the filament are not broken. Anybody have any ideas if this is a common problem, or a simple fix? It's no biggie at the moment, but I'm not sure when I'll get the chance to pull it up on the lift I case I may need to take off the front bumper.

Fuses are usually a good spot to start..especially if its both lights.

Otherwise maybe loose wiring harness?

Yeah, I'll have to look in the morning. Usually when two lights go out at tye same time it's not the bulbs, but electronic diagnosis is my weaknes lol. Looks like the harness is easy to access, and runs up to the firewall and connects to something, so it could be pulled out if needed and inspected.....why does **** have to break as soon as it hits 32 degrees, couldn't of happen when it was 50 out lol.

the 2 lamps are probably on separate fuses, so unlikely to blow 2 at the same time

i would be looking at the ground wire from the light, i bet it is common to the 2 lamps

Try a new bulb as you may not always see where the filament broke. 2 at the same time may be a coincidence. Keep us posted.

so as to not confuse with 'driving lights' this unit is the parking light and directional signal isn't it?

So does any part work? Does the parking light come on alone? Do your directionals (turn signals) work? How about the side marker lights in the wheel trim, do they come on but the PL no? Check the rears too because these circuits are controlled together front and rear.

What happens if you try the 4 way flashers?

All these lights are controlled by the GCU and on one fuse. So if you have 'part' there is a different problem

there are also sep' grounds at left front and right front used by these lights . . .

this is how I'm reading the wiring diagrams anyway . . .

The 'driving light' I believe is a tiny 168 bulb. It would have to pull a decent amount of current to pop a fuse, so I might look at the harness.

So I got to look at the bulbs a little better today, it turns out the 2825 bulb that sits in that assembly was bad. The amber bulb was fine.

When you look at the assembly, it looks like the amber light is on as well, here the 2825 bulb reflects off the amber light, giving it the appearance that both are on. Everything is a okay now, thanks guys
