Anyone know when the 2005 year model will be released for sale? How about pre-orders? I'm thinking of holding out for a 2005, but I really hate to miss all the summer driving with nothing but a Chevy Trailblazer.

There's been talk (from my dealer in Peabody MA for example) of the 2005 model year starting early (like July) in order to coincide with the replacement of the Cooper's Midlands 5-speed transmission with the new Getrag 5-speed. At one point there was a news article from somewhere in Britain (Gabe has it on his site http://www.motoringfile.com) saying that the Getrags would be put into Coopers as early as April. Gabe himself says that he's heard that the date will be more like September after all (last two model years have begun in September).

Bottom line, you're not likely to get a straight answer from anybody. If you want a joke, try calling 866-ASKMINI and asking them.

Thanks for the link - I forgot to bookmark it last time I was there.

After posting this, I decided to get off my rear and call our local dealers. Global Imports says September was the release date, but Hank Aaron MINI says Sept. is for the convertible and October is for the MC/MCS. Not sure if I can wait that long.
