My first windshield was chipped from road debris and then cracked by a flying stone before it was replaced 6 weeks ago. This morning I got in my car and saw a 6 inch crack traveling straight up from the bottom center of my second windshield.

I examined it and found no stone hits on the crack, but stopped at my dealer on the way to work so they could verify that it was a stress crack. They did, and it will be replaced under warrantee next week.

So i'm finally joining the stress crack club! When do I get my wallet-sized membership card?

Hey, I got my first one last week, windshield number 3 is on the way. First one was a rock chip too.

Congratulations. I had the same thing on mine. Just make sure they put the A pillar covers and the rubber strip above the windshield back on right. I had the rubber strip blow out on the freeway and the clips pop loose on the a pillar trim after they replaced mine.

Ahhhhh , as All know ,this is a subject near and dear to me.Based on my current experience with the first of a new breed of windshield ,check out the thread
"part # for new windshield" and wait as long as it takes to get the new one. With 6 to my credit, I am somewhat of an expert .The new one is 3 weeks old, has been hit several times and although minorly pitted,HASN'T CRACKED(PK please take note and thanks again for your efforts). Peace. Jock

Jock, I thought I read that the new windshield # turned out to be the same old glass with different tint around the edges?

What's the real scoop?
