Water temperature range

Just curoius to what the average water temperature is for your R53?

With an extremely hot day like today 95degrees in PA, what temp does your car stay at?

My 04 touches the middle line ever so slightly on the right side(colder side).

Side note, I just replaced my waterpump/SC in March. Not that it mattered, thats where it sat before I had SC problems.

Thx for the info. I am hoping to find the actual degrees that people are running at.

between 194 and 199 at 75 MPH with 98 indicated outside temp. A/C was on. in stop and go it gets to about 210 before it starts to lower, same outside temp. I do need a S/C and A waterpump as I have the death rattle. Car is an 04 S with pully and CAI, 110K on the OD

Regardless of the T outside, the Scangauge indicates 198-202F.

(It is recommended to put in an actual T reader like the Scangauge, because the T needle on the MINI is just an "idiot gauge" that will sit at ~halfway and only shoot up (quickly!) if the engine is overheating. Not much warning given.)

I get 195 to 200 on the highway. I switched the speedo digital display to read this out earlier this week, and watched it on my commute home. Less variation than I expected. Going up hills or stopped for a while it would get a few degrees over 200.

Same temps and very good advise.
My low speed fan is out but that is not a problem because I can always see the actual temp on my SG. Never any temp problems unless I get stuck in traffic and then I just turn on the AC to start the fan.
Very nice to know the actual temp with the SG.

Not an R53 but an R50, if the air-conditioner is on, my high speed fan will come on at about 214 and will cycle on and off regularly. If the air is not on, the high speed fan will not come on until it hits 234 -- cools to about 215 and shuts down then repeats when it hits 234 again.

Depends on a million things. If the a/c is on, temps stay lower since the fan is running, etc. Most of the time it'll peak in the 190's and then drop a bit. It regularly runs in the 185 range, but I've seen it over 200 at a long light without the a/c going, etc...

I thought the AC only triggered the low speed fan.

To the OP, my scangauge reads 193 in cruise mode (though I swear a few years ago steady state was in the mid 180's.) Around town it will easily climb into the 200's (and the 220's before I replaced my dead low speed fan.)

Yeah, the A/C only turns on the low speed fan.
