R53 Overheated and will not start

Hey guys, this is my first time posting on this forum looking for some help from anyone on here hoping this situation has happened to anyone else with the knowledge that could possibly help me out. Well the situation I have is our 2006 MCS overheated and I noticed the coolant reservoir had a huge leak. Well I allowed the car to cool down and I added some water just to get us home for we were not even 1 mile away from our home, but the darnedest thing happened after adding the water, the car will not start. The car makes this hi-reving sound and will not start up. I checked the plugs and wires in case of when overheating they might of fried but they were fine, I checked the belt to the waterpump and that's fine. So I came on here hoping someone else with the previous experience and knowledge could lend a helping hand.

Thanks,

Roger

Check your oil and make sure it doesnt look like there is water in it, there is a possibility that you may have cracked the head.

I did check the oil and there wasn't any visible water bleeding off the oil dipstick.

If it is spinning faster than normal, it may be a timing chain gone. Not having the compression and drag from valve train makes the starter spin the engine much faster than normal. I have heard that in other cars before, sounds like a supercharged starter motor.

Does the starter crank the engine? Or is it seized?

If seized you are done. Not much you can do at this point.

If turns over, we may pursue more.

You'd hear the pistons hitting the valves, at least at first. That should be noticeable.

How badly did the car overheat?

Have your car towed to your dealer or MINI qualified shop, they'll let you know how bad it is and what it will cost - all we can do is guess based on your limited description. Besides, it doesn't sound like you're going to be doing your own work......might as well find out what you're up against.
