R50/53 Drivers side window "scraping"
Drivers side window "scraping"
Hey Guys,
I have a drivers side window "scraping" noise when putting it up. It sounds like metal on glass.
I didn't see anything visibly that could be causing this, nor is the glass scratched...
Can I spray silicone down where the window rides?
It seems to not do this when wet (raining) which is why this may fix the issue.
I don't want to mess up anything thats electrical in the doors (if anything)

My passenger side window does this from time to time. I'm thinking the tracts need some oiling. I just need to take the time to take the panel off and lube up the tracts for the window.
Unless someone else has a idea, I'd say grease/oil the window tracts.

This happened to my MINI before I bought it. The owner ordered a new window regulator, and it came with the car's purchtase. The window wouldn't go up or down without the assistance of your hands. When replacing it, we found the motor was eating away at the cable, making the grinding noise. This may or may not be your issue though. If it were me, I would check the motor to make sure it's not tearing up that cable, just to be safe
