I have never been up to one before. 300 miles to nearest dealer. Have a friend in town with one. Think its about 6 months old. Gonna check it out. Ive been all over the miniusa.com. Its just one of those things that grabs ya and you have to have it. Curious about the tach... Does it lite up for shifts, or do you have to watch the needle. And at 60 mph is 6th to hi. I've only test driven one for a short time, but from my experience I can say that its a great car. From what I remember, and I'm sure others can chime in with more knowledge, but you don't have to wind it up too much, the gears aren't spaced that far apart, but of course if you want to have fun you'll wind it up pretty good :smile: The car's top speed is 135, but I don't think 60 would be too high for 6th gear, unless maybe you were going up a hill.

I just ordered my MCS a week ago. You might as well order, its 1000 bucks down and its totally refundable, you don't even have to pick up the car when it comes to the dealer, if you don't want it they'll give you your 1000 bucks back, no catch.

 

Looking at the paint colors for the S, the silver appears lite. Ive seen pictures of 03 and 02 and they appear to be darker silver. Is the new silver that lite? Thanks.

Firstly, welcome to the MINI bunch here.
The tach does not light up for shifts. And when going 60mph, 6th gear may be a little too much(IMO), but it's alright to run in it. Your rpm level will not be too high. So if you're just cruising on a straight, and ya want to save on gas, than it's alright.
I haven't checked up on the new paint colors/or shades of such since I've picked up my MCS a year ago, but just in case you do not know, there are 2 different shades of silver. Pure silver and Dark silver. Not sure if they changed the hue of them or not.
